Potting Soil with Perlite - 8QT

KKO Premium Compost, peat, aged bark fines, perlite and lime.

Repotting: Choose a container with drainage holes. Add some mix to the bottom, set the plant at about the same depth it was growing before, then fill around the root ball and press lightly.

New containers: Fill the container with Potting Soil with Perlite, leaving a little room at the top for watering. Plant, water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain.

Indoor herbs & lettuce: Use a container with drainage holes and place it in a bright window or under a grow light.

Each bag contains 8 quarts, or about 2 gallons of potting mix.

Quick estimate: Add up the gallon capacity of the empty containers you plan to fill and divide by 2 to estimate the number of bags.

Existing plants and root balls take up space, so repotting usually requires less mix than filling an empty container from the bottom.

Right after planting: Water slowly and thoroughly until a little water drains from the bottom of the container. Empty any water left in the saucer.

When to water again: Check the soil with your finger. Water when the top of the mix begins to feel dry. Lettuce and basil generally prefer more even moisture, while herbs such as rosemary and thyme like to dry a little more between waterings.

Give indoor plants a bright window or grow light and follow the care recommendations for the specific plants you are growing.
