Aged cow manure.

New gardens & plantings: Mix a thin layer into the topsoil before planting.

Raised beds: Mix it into the soil already in the bed. Think of it as an amendment, not the whole raised-bed fill.

Established gardens & plants: Apply a light layer around plants, gently work it into the soil surface where practical, and water.

New lawns (seed or sod): Mix a thin layer into the soil before seeding or laying sod, then water well.

Bare or thin lawn spots: Lightly mix into the soil, reseed and water.

Established lawns: After aerating, spread a light layer across the surface and water. Repeat up to twice per season.

Trees & shrubs: Spread a light layer over the soil around the plant and keep it pulled back from the trunk or stems.

Each bag contains 1 cubic foot.

One bag covers about:

• 48 sq ft at 1/4 inch deep
• 24 sq ft at 1/2 inch deep

Quick formula:
Bags needed = Area (sq ft) × Depth (inches) ÷ 12

Round up to the next full bag. If you have been adding manure or compost regularly for several years, a soil test can help you decide whether you need more.

Aged manure can be used in vegetable gardens, but timing matters.

For crops that may touch the soil, allow at least 120 days between application and harvest. For crops whose edible portion stays off the soil, allow at least 90 days.

The easiest approach for many gardeners is to mix aged manure into the garden well before planting or after the growing season.

More is not always better. Cow manure adds nutrients as well as organic matter, so repeated heavy applications can add more nutrients than your soil needs.

For occasional garden use, apply a light layer and mix it into the soil. For long-term or repeated use, a soil test is the best guide.

Use Aged Cow Manure to improve existing soil rather than as a stand-alone potting mix.
